I started working as the Director of Production on a 7-day mountain bike race that moved to a different city every day. I supervised a team of managers to help execute all the production elements and ensure everyone was housed, fed and transported. The Transportation Manager is responsible for coordinating a daily move of 800 people from site to site via bus, ferry, and float plane. I needed someone who was quick on their feet, logical and able to corral 800 people at a time. I knew Shannon was the only one I wanted in the role.
Above and Beyond…
This is a photo of Shannon working at the bike race. I love this photo because what isn’t obvious to the viewer is that this is a photo of Shannon going WAY above and beyond. While she was officially the Transportation Manager she without hesitation stepped into another department that was struggling to lend her wisdom, problem solving and be an extra pair of hands when they desperately needed someone to get the job done. She was there to coach, offer advice when requested, and be a body to help move everything around.
